Whether it's a yoga class, Ballroom dance, a chance to learn English or Computer skills, our free programs help you stay healthy and connected to your community. Classes are offered at George Washington High School through the Richmond Village Beacon (RVB). Food Pantry ProgramThe Richmond District is home to nearly 12,000 individuals who live at or below 150% of the federal poverty line, which means that every day they must decide between rent, food, medicine, and other basic necessities. Fortunately, over 200 Richmond District residents receive free groceries weekly at the Center through the Food Pantry, a program run by youth. To receive food, you must demonstrate proof of residency in the 94121 zip code. The Food Pantry program occurs on Thursdays from 2:30-5:00 pm. Call 415.750.8554 for more details. English as a Second LanguageImprove your English-speaking skills in this multi-level class. This course will help you build better communication skills in conversations, business transactions, and daily activities. Computer SkillsWhether you have never used a computer or just need to polish up on your skills, these classes are tailored for beginners, intermediate learners, or advanced users. Ballroom DanceWhether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro, you will find enjoyment in Viennese Waltz, Samba, American Rumba, Tango, Cha-Cha, Quick-step, 2-step, Foxtrot, Meringue and more! Beginners and intermediate learners are welcome. Tai Chi ChuanA Chinese form of exercise derived from Taoism, the practice of Tai Chi is beneficial to your health and is also a subtle, sophisticated and scientific method of self defense. YogaKnown for unifying the mind, body and spirit, yoga helps you create balance in the body by developing strength and flexibility. Intergenerational Art ClassesLearn to draw, paint and appreciate art through classes offered in partnership with Center for Elders and Youth in the Arts. Richmond Village Beacon Parent Advisory Board A safe space to voice concerns regarding you and your family in San Francisco, the Parent Advisory Board is your venue to provide feedback to the city and the nation. Richmond Village Beacon also holds parent seminars and workshops based on your interests.
