YOUTH PROGRAM ASSISTANT (Supporting Elementary School Age Youth)

The Youth Program Assistant will be located at Argonne Elementary School. Under the supervision of the Site Manager, the Youth Program Assistant provides direct assistance to students in all areas of the program including (but not limited to) homework assistance and arts or sports programs. 

The successful candidate must:

  • Be in high school
  • Be eligible to obtain work permit for at least 15 hours on weekdays
  • Be available to work Monday thru Friday during 2 hour block after school (between 3-6pm)
  • Enjoy interacting with children
  • Possess experience in community service, service learning or working with youth/seniors

Demonstrate capacity to establish and maintain appropriate physical and emotional boundaries with all program participants, families, and staff 

Hours & Compensation:  Minimum wage (currently $10.24/hr). This is a part time (10-15 hrs/week) seasonal (June 25, 2012 – May 2013) position. Benefits include health and sick leave in accord with the San Francisco HSCO (Health Care Security Ordinance) and San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance.

HOMEWORK LEADER (Supporting Elementary School Age Youth)

The Homework Leader will be located at Argonne Elementary School and will be responsible for assisting children ages 5-11 with homework completion and facilitating enrichment activities for the program. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A HS diploma and college level experience in Child Development/Education or related field (A.A. preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children (in an academic/classroom environment preferred)
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills
  • Demonstrated history of reliability, accountability, and responsibility
  • Desire to continue learning and growing as a youth worker
  • Proficiency in Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian or Spanish, a plus

All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

Hours & Compensation:  $14.00-$15.50/hr. This is a part time (15 hrs/week) seasonal (June 25, 2012 – May 2013) position. Benefits include health and sick leave in accord with the San Francisco HSCO (Health Care Security Ordinance) and San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance.

SENIOR HOMEWORK LEADER (Supporting Elementary School Age Youth)

The Senior Homework Leader will be located at Argonne Elementary School and will be responsible for providing general coordination of the homework assistance room, assisting children ages 5-11 with homework completion and facilitating enrichment activities for the program. 

The successful candidate will have:

  • A HS diploma and college level experience in Child Development/Education or related field (A.A. preferred)
  • Minimum 2 year experience working with children in an academic/classroom environment
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills
  • Strong, out-going personality and sense of humor
  • Demonstrated history of reliability, accountability, and responsibility
  • Desire to continue learning and growing as a youth worker
  • Experience leading teams preferred
  • Proficiency in Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian or Spanish, a plus

All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

ASSISTANT SITE MANAGER (Supporting Elementary School Age Youth)

The Assistant Site Manager will be located at Argonne Elementary School and will be responsible supporting the Site Manager and in partnership with the Site Manager, providing general oversight for the functioning of after school program.  Some of the additional responsibilities include working with school faculty on aligning our after school program to the school day program, developing site and lesson plans, communicating with mental health consultants regarding student’s need, coordinating student data and other required reporting, and planning and leading meetings.

The successful candidate will have:

  • A HS diploma and college level experience in Child Development/Education or related field (A.A. preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years experience working with children (in an academic/classroom environment preferred)
  • Minimum 1 year experience in an after-school/non-profit setting, preferably in a leadership capacity
  • Proven curriculum development experience
  • Proven meeting facilitation skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Excellent writing and verbal skills
  • Strong, out-going personality and sense of humor
  • Demonstrated history of reliability, accountability, and responsibility
  • Desire to continue learning and growing as a youth worker
  • Proficiency in Chinese, Vietnamese, Russian or Spanish, a plus

NIGHT PROGRAM ASSISTANT

The Night Program Assistant will be located at George Washington High School campus, will be responsible for coordinating night program usage, set up and clean up; providing a safe, welcoming and healthy environment for program participants; and performing basic receptionist and data entry tasks. Program participants are adults.  Program hours are Monday & Wednesday 5:45 pm – 8:15 pm and Tuesday & Thursday 5:45 pm – 9:15 pm.  Since the programs are in the evening, this person will be the primary link between the Program Manager and adult participants. 

We are looking for a candidate who is friendly and welcoming, mature, independent and trustworthy with very strong interpersonal, coordination, communication and problem-solving skills.  Previous experience overseeing recreation programs preferred.  All candidates will be subject to a clearance of TB test and fingerprinting (criminal background check).

Hours & Compensation:  $15.00-$16.50/hr.  This is a part time (12 hrs/wk plus occasional additional hours for special events) position. Benefits include health and sick leave in accord with the San Francisco HSCO (Health Care Security Ordinance) and San Francisco Paid Sick Leave Ordinance.
