TUTOR
Hours: 2:45pm - 5:45pm, Monday - Friday
Location: 1 of 4 elementary schools in the Richmond District, San Francisco
Wage: $10 - $12/hr DOE
Job DescriptionThe RDASC team consists of one Site Coordinator, one Lead Tutor, two or three Tutors, two Program Assistants and one Artist. At each site, 40-80 students participate in daily educational activities (including homework help), art classes and recreational activities. The Tutors are responsible for the educational component of the RDASC program. Tutors aid children ages 6 - 11 with homework completion and other educational activities.
Specific Job Responsibilities
· Support RDASC's mission to create an environment for youth that is safe, fun, nurturing, culturally relevant, academically enhancing and enriched with the arts
· Develop meaningful and positive relationships with youth and their families
· Serve as a positive role model for youth
· Assist children with daily homework tasks and track weekly progress
· Engage children in educational, skill building activities
· Maintain effective, open communication with all RDASC staff
· Create structure for and manage small and large groups of children
· Accompany children on field trips
· Attend monthly trainings
· Support Lead Tutor in enrichment activities
Qualifications
· High school diploma
· College level experience in Child Development or Education preferred
· Experience working with children in an academic environment
· Strong, out-going personality and good sense of humor
· Demonstrated history of reliability, accountability, and responsibility
· Desire to continue learning and growing as a Caregiver and Teacher
· Willingness to act as a team player in a collaborative environment
· Ability to work calmly and consistently with youth
